Prof. Ning Zhong, senior 73 alumnus, returned to his Alma mater to share a lecture on the challenges and innovations facing the future intelligent society

On the afternoon of March 16, Zhong Ning, an outstanding alumnus of the High School Affiliated to Tsinghua University and a foreign academician of the Japanese Academy of Engineering, returned to his Alma mater and gave a knowledge lecture with the theme of "Challenges and Innovation for the future Intelligent Society - Thoughts brought by generative AI" to the students of his Alma mater。Zhang Jie, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Tsinghua High School and Secretary General of the Alumni Association, Wang Yingmin, deputy secretary general and some alumni attended the event。Tan Hongzheng, director of Science and Technology Office of Tsinghua High School, presided over the lecture。

With his profound academic background and forward-looking thinking, Academician Zhong Ning has brought a profound insight into the technological change and educational development of the future intelligent society for teachers and students。He reviewed it firstHistory of artificial intelligence development,This paper introduces the innovation and thinking of artificial Intelligence-generated Content (AIGC), a generative artificial intelligence induced by large model,The characteristics of the future development of intelligent society and the educational innovation of cultivating innovative talents,How does AIGC enable new networked intelligence technologies to build the intelligent society of the future,It looks forward to the unprecedented new opportunities and challenges brought by the construction of human-centered intelligent society。

Academician Zhong Ning stressed the importance of independent thinking in the era of artificial intelligence,It is pointed out that the quality of question answering in generative artificial intelligence largely depends on the level of questioning,This point of view caused the teachers and students present to think deeply about the education model,To realize that the future of education is not just about teaching students how to "answer" questions,Instead, focus more on teaching students how to "ask" questions,How to ask real, deep questions。

Academician Zhong Ning further pointed out that the essence of education for a future-oriented intelligent society is to cultivate innovative talents, and its core is to learn how to think and how to do things, rather than simply increasing specific knowledge。Imagination is the source of human innovation, scientific and technological progress and civilization change。With the help of generative AI, the core of education will gradually shift to fostering creativity and critical thinking。He stressed that students need to learn to think critically about the resources and information used in their work, to be able to ask the right questions when reading papers, works or using generative AI to get answers, to judge whether information is true or false, to weigh different arguments and perspectives, and to use evidence to form their own opinions and theories。

Academician Ning Zhong also discussed in depth the development trends and main features of technologies for the future intelligent society。In a people-oriented intelligent society, it is necessary to maximize the advantages of people - innovation drives the creation of new value。In essence, intelligent society is an innovative service society driven by man-machine co-intelligence, co-evolution, interconnection and symbiosis。He emphasized the service nature of technology and the importance of co-evolution of technology and humanity to drive sustainable, intelligent and innovative development of society。

In addition, Academician Zhong Ning introduced the International Intelligent Network Association。In the early 21st century, the two directions of network intelligence and brain informatics were first proposed by the International Network Intelligence Association (WIC), an international academic organization。目前,The International Network Intelligence Association is actively promoting network intelligence as the core technology of artificial intelligence under the environment of creating a future intelligent society and the interconnection of everything, "human-machine-things" integration,Facing the major needs of the development of innovative countries,To carry out the cross-fusion research of network intelligence and brain informatics,The research of brain cognitive mechanism of thinking and reasoning is the core,Research and development of brain intelligence and common key technologies,Demonstration applications for health and education。

Tsinghua High School affiliated to 73 alumni。He is a foreign academician of the Japanese Academy of Engineering, a senior professor at Mabashi University of Technology, founder and president of the International Network Intelligence Association (WIC), founder and chief editor of the international academic journal "BRAIN INFORMATICS" (SPRINGER NATURE)。Doctor of Engineering, University of Tokyo, Japan (Advanced Interdisciplinary Engineering, Advanced Science and Technology Research Center, Artificial Intelligence research direction)。His research interests include network intelligence, brain informatics, machine learning and data mining, intelligent health technology, and intelligent information systems。In 2000 and 2004, he jointly proposed two cutting-edge research directions of network intelligence and brain informatics with partners, and carried out cross-integration research and industrial innovation of network intelligence and brain informatics。
